ATT 2024 - Photo competition

Visitors to ATT 2024 are cordially invited to take part in a photo competition. Every ATT visitor can submit a self-created astrophoto online in advance. A jury will select 24 photos from all entries for the final round. These photos will then be printed out on the day of the event for all ATT visitors to vote on. The three winners will receive attractive prizes. Winners of further attractive prizes will be selected at random from among the ATT visitors who take part in the final vote on site. 

Conditions of participation

Only VISITORS to ATT 2024 can take part in the photo competition with ONE photo that they own the rights to. Excluded from participation are jury members of the preliminary round (see below), all members of the Walter-Hohmann-Sternwarte Essen e.V., as well as those exhibitors and their employees who provide prizes. Finalists who, contrary to expectations, are unable to be on site on 4 May and do not send an authorised representative will be subsequently excluded from the competition.

Organisation of the competition

Preliminary round

As a VISITOR of the ATT 2024, you are cordially invited to submit your astrophoto online for participation - ONE photo per participant.

By uploading the image, you confirm that you are the author of the submitted photo, hold all image rights and guarantee that the image is free from third-party rights.

By providing the image, you temporarily assign the relevant rights of use to the organisers of the ATT 2024 - represented by the Walter-Hohmann-Sternwarte e.V. - for the purpose of holding the photo competition. After the end of the photo competition, all uploaded images will be deleted.

The deadline for submitting digital photos is 6 April 2024, after which a jury from the organisers will meet to select 24 photos from all entries for the final round. You can find the upload option below (available up to and including 6 April 2024).

The selection criteria are quality and originality.

Final round

The 24 selected photos will be printed by an online service provider on 30 x 20 cm photo paper and presented to all ATT visitors for the final vote on 4 May.

All ATT visitors will receive ONE (A6) voting card at the entrance, which they can use to cast their vote between 10:00 and 14:00. Each visitor can vote for exactly ONE final photo. Anyone who would also like to take part in a prize draw can enter their contact details on the voting card, which they can then drop into the voting box provided.

During the ATT, the winners of the final round will be determined by counting the submitted voting cards and announced at 14:30. The winners (or authorised representatives, see above) must be present in person for the prizes to be awarded.

All ATT visitors who took part in the final vote and provided their contact details on the voting card will also be entered into a draw to determine the winners of further attractive prizes in the lecture theatre from 14:30. The announcement will be made by loudspeaker. Prizes will only be awarded if the winners are present in person on the ATT site until the prizes are awarded.

Legal recourse is excluded.
